Why some mobile games murder your battery (and how to fight back)

Not all games drain battery equally, and it's usually not about how 'big' they look. The biggest culprits are high frame rates, uncapped rendering, and constant network calls in the background.

The first thing I check in any new game is whether there's a frame-rate cap. Locking to 30 or 60 instead of letting it run wild can nearly double a play session on some phones. It also keeps the device cooler, which matters more than people think.

Brightness is the other quiet killer. Auto-brightness on a bright game will crank your screen and eat power fast. On long trips I set a manual level and turn off any in-game bloom or dynamic lighting options.

Finally, watch for games that stay busy when idle. If your phone gets warm while you're just sitting in a menu, something's polling the network constantly. Those are the titles I play only on WiFi at home.
